The Wall. 19th-20th centuries
The Wall
|
Up to the middle of the 19th century the monastery wall was wooden and had four corner towers. The wall facing Borodaevskoye Lake embraced the monastery constructions of the 16th century, namely the stone cellars, guesthouse and kitchen.
In the 1840s, a parish stone wall was built from the bricks of the demolished buildings. Only the southern wall has survived. In the 1980s, the wall was restored on a deeper foundation along the whole perimeter.
