(Chalcedon) was held in 451 during the reign of the emperor Markian in Chalcedon to repudiate the Eutychian doctrine of monophysitism which emerged as a reaction to the Nestorian heresy. 630 priests proclaimed “one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, only begotten, to be acknowledged in two natures, inconfusedly, unchangeably, indivisibly, inseparably”.
